SCOR Foundation Webinar | The middle-class and the coming risk of collapse of the consumer society
by Gilles Saint-Paul, Ecole Normale Supérieure and the Paris School of Economics, and holder of the SCOR-PSE “Macroeconomic Risk” Chair - April 22, 2024
The SCOR Foundation for Science organized a webinar from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM (CEST) on April 22, 2024. The event has been delivered by Gilles Saint-Paul, Professor of Economics at the Ecole Normale Supérieure and the Paris School of Economics, and holder of the SCOR-PSE “Macroeconomic Risk” Chair since 2017.
Gilles Saint-Paul has analyzed how the oversupply of skills might lead to a fall in the return to skills, which might in turn jeopardize the middle class and, through its consequences for the structure of demand, the entire industrial society. He has applied these results to the politics of artificial intelligence.
An internationally renowned economist, Gilles Saint-Paul has been published in the best international journals and written numerous landmark works in economic analysis. He won the Yrjö-Jahnsson Prize in 2007, which is awarded every two years to a European economist under the age of 45 "who has made a contribution in theoretical and applied research that is significant to economics in Europe".
