2023 | IEF/SCOR Foundation for Science Award: Best Young Researcher in Finance and Insurance

The joint winners of the award have been named.

Paris, March 21st, 2023: the IEF/SCOR Foundation for Science award for the Best Young Researcher in Finance and Insurance was presented today in Paris during the 16th Financial Risks International Forum, organized by the Institut Louis Bachelier.

This year, there were two joint winners: Irina Zviadadze, Associate Professor of Finance at HEC Paris, and Olivier Guéant, Professor of Applied Mathematics at Université Paris 1.
They are the 8th winners of the IEF/SCOR prize and were voted for by a large majority.

Didier Valet, President of the Institut Europlace de Finance and Vice-President of the Institut Louis Bachelier, comments: “Irina Zviadadze was identified as a promising researcher within the Louis Bachelier network when she was made a Louis Bachelier Academic Fellow in 2022. We are delighted to present her with this award, which confirms the importance of her past work as well as the potential of her future research. As a researcher, Olivier Guéant has been involved in the Louis Bachelier network for many years, through several research programs. This prize thus rewards his academic work applicable to the financial sector."

 

The Institut Europlace de Finance (IEF) launched The Best Young Researcher Award in 2005 for a promising researcher under the age of 40. The “Best Young Researcher in Finance and Insurance” award has been sponsored by the SCOR Foundation for Science since 2016. Candidates are nominated by the Scientific Board members of the Institut Louis Bachelier and the Scientific Board members of IEF. The Louis Bachelier Academic Fellows college votes for the winner(s).

 

ABOUT THE JOINT WINNERS

 

Irina Zviadadze
Irina Zviadadze

is an Associate Professor of Finance at HEC Paris and a Research Affiliate with the CEPR (Center for Economic and Policy Research). Having gained a PhD from the London Business School in 2013, she first worked for the Stockholm School of Economics before joining HEC Paris in 2019. She conducts research on asset pricing and has been published in leading journals such as the Journal of Finance and the Review of Financial Studies.

Olivier Guéant

is a Professor of Applied Mathematics at Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and an Associate Professor of Finance at ENSAE. He leads the Sorbonne Economics Centre’s "Financial Modelling" team, a group of eight researchers and around ten PhD students. His research focuses on optimal execution and market making. He has notably developed state-of-the-art models used by brokers in the OTC markets (especially the foreign exchange and corporate bond markets). In 2010, he won the Rosemont-Demassieux prize for his PhD thesis on mean field games.
