On January 21, 2026, the SCOR Foundation hosted a webinar titled: The United States: The Risks Ahead (Tariffs, Migrants, Alliances).

This webinar was hosted by Christopher Caldwell, contributing editor at the Claremont Review of Books and contributing opinion writer for the News York Times. 

The webinar explored new sources of instability that have arisen from institutional changes since the start of the Trump administration, focusing on the strengthening position of the Democrats vis-à-vis Trump, and the strengthening position of the left within the Democratic party, both of which increase the risk of constitutional confrontation.
 

Christopher Caldwell is an American journalist: contributing editor at the Claremont Review of Books, contributing opinion writer for the New York Times and member of the editorial committee of Commentaire. He was previously a senior editor at the Weekly Standard and a columnist for the Financial Times.
